ABOUT KIDZ PHOTO & VIDEO CLUBS CIC
Why Photography?
Young Photographers are great at telling amazing stories. They present the dynamics of life in school, best friends and friendship photos along with outdoor and rural countryside.
With support they can soon adapt to presenting a record or reportage of historical buildings such as Harewood House and Ripley Castle. We teach children to understand the importance of photography and how it helps to preserve our memories and inspire us to become more aware of what goes on around us.
They reveal our dreams. They excite us. They clarify and mystify. The joy of photography lies in its infinite possibilities. Each and every photograph offers extraordinary insight, both in terms of the subject being photographed and also the photographer’s own perspective.
Studying photography can be a conduit to a better understanding of various cultures and different ways of seeing, believing, and thinking. Photography broadens our perception of ourselves and the world. Viewing, discussing, and creating images is a passage to self-discovery that can enhance or build on our own self-esteem. Photography is about more than just technique or the use of a DSLR camera.
A camera is just a black box, it’s what you do with it that counts; it’s about perception and communication. As the power of photography lies in its ability to communicate, our perceptions of the world, photography and the images we can all produce intersects into a variety of themes and studies.
"Chris's workshop was truly the perfect introduction to photography for our 11-year-old daughter."
CHRIS OWEN - TRAINER
We’ve probably all heard that a picture is worth a thousand words. But what makes a good editorial picture worth publishing?
For the past thirty-five years, Chris has provided editorial images for various press outlets. These were either commissioned from a new agency, or from various corporate clients requesting reportage photography at either an event or as part of a public relations campaign.
Chris now spends much of his time taking everything he has learned into primary schools, academies and colleges to teach children how to take great photographs.
